Soul Candy

This is a quilt using bright colorful scraps.  Young ladies ages 14-17 helped me tie this quilt.  It is twin quilt size.

I know I have not been posting a lot lately.  It doesn’t mean I haven’t been sewing.  It just means I haven’t been sewing anything that would be considered “eye candy.”

But, perhaps one might consider it “soul candy.”

I have had some fabric set aside for projects that I would “one day” get to.  ”One day, it would be nice to make a Thirty’s reproduction quilt.  One day, I would like to use the crazy scraps I have to make a crazy scrap quilt.  One day, I would like to use all those boy remnant fabrics I collected to make a baby boy quilt.  One day, I hope to make a charity quilt.  One day…”  Well, other projects kept pushing those “One-day” projects aside, and the fabric just sat there, waiting for “one day” to come.  Then, I realized, that there weren’t enough days to work on those quilts.  New ideas always come to me, and my motivation to work on those old ideas fades.  So, I decided to finally give those fabrics a life of their own.  In the form of charity quilts.

All of those 30′s reproduction fabrics finally made it into another twin-sized quilt.  This quilt has fabric with little pictures of paper dolls, and I was hoping to make something really fun and complex with it.  But, perhaps now it will have a better home.  This quilt was tied by ladies in my neighborhood.

These two quilts are just quilt tops for now, but they are slated to be tied by some 12-13-year-old young men in my neighborhood.  I’ll be honest, I can’t wait to see those young men tie these quilts!

A neighbor of mine was willing to take those three twin-sized quilts, and a few of my baby quilts, to Primary Childrens’ Hospital.
